The Place
Uman and the Tziyun
אומן והציון
Rebbe Nachman is buried in Uman, Ukraine. The Tziyun is the focal point of the Breslov Rosh Hashanah kibbutz and of countless private journeys of prayer.
Why Uman
Rebbe Nachman chose Uman so that he would lie among Jews murdered in 1768. He spoke of the power of gathering at his resting place, especially for Rosh Hashanah. Breslover Hasidim have returned there for generations, in times of peace and in times of danger.
This website treats Uman with reverence: as a place of prayer, not as tourism. Related videos, stories, and teachings are gathered under the Uman and Tziyun categories.
